If none of the above appears to be what you are looking for or in case you don't know where to search for information—feel free to contact our
Sponsor manager. He'll be pleased to help you in evaluating further ways of support.
Donating to the web site
The websites run by warpevents.eu and the efforts involved are not limited to specific events. Instead, it rather is an everyday business. Supporting the website is the most versatile way of donating and also shows your support for the people behind it.
What will your donation be used for?
We are using a professional web hosting service to provide best quality, speed, and availability for our visitors. As in most cases, this professional level service does not come for free. Also, there are some features we would like to add to the site. Donating to warpevents.eu will help us pay the web hosting services for both web sites in question (warpstock.eu as well as warpevents.eu) and ensure further development.
Please note that your donation will not be used to fund any kind of event! Thus, if your intention is rather to provide financial support in that regard, please see the section about
donating to a specific event.
How the donation process works
Donations are handled via Mensys or PayPal, depending on your preference. To initiate either donation process, simply click the according link of your choice below (this will open a new window or tab, respectively) and follow the instructions displayed.
If you are undecided which of the methods to use, we suggest to opt for the Mensys shop since they generously provide us with it free of charge (no fees, we get all of the donation). Also, you might feel having more transparency and control about what happens with your money and lastly, their shop perhaps offers one or more items that you might be interested in as well.
Before you start, please note:
Warpevents.eu is not a registered non-profit organization in terms of the German fiscal law. Thus, we are not allowed to issue donation receipts for use in tax deduction.
And finally - thanks in advance, your support is deeply appreciated!
Donations to the website - using Mensys
Mensys provides a special page for donations to warpevents.eu where you can buy so-called sponsor units. These are basically shop items that don't consist of physical objects - instead, the monetary value of the article is transferred to warpevents.eu.
Two types of sponsor units (10 Euro and 25 Euro) are provided. Note that if you intend to donate more than 25 Euro, you can do so by simply putting mutiple of these sponsor units into your shopping cart.
- In contrast to PayPal, Mensys does not raise any fee for handling this service - meaning that we will receive the entire amount you donated.
- The Mensys webshop provides various payment methods and is able to create the required user account during the donation process if you don't already have one.
- More information concerning Mensys, their shop and its features is available
via this link.
Donations to the website - using PayPal
With PayPal, there is no predefined donation amount or a choice among such. You simply fill in the donation amount on the first screen in your PayPal transaction and there you go.
In case you're new to PayPal: What actually happens is that you send money to someone who is identified by his/her e-mail address. If that sounds kind of unsafe to you, you better go for the Mensys shop donation method above.
- PayPal reserves a fee for handling the donation - meaning we will not get the entire amount. That fee however is really moderate.
- In most countries you need to have registered an account with PayPal in order to use the donation function. This can be done from within the donation process, too.
- More information regarding PayPal, supported payment methods and service fees is available at
their homepage.
Donating to individuals
This web site and its offerings are maintained by various people who sacrifice their spare-time to the benefit of the OS/2 and eComStation community. If you happen to appreciate a specific piece or work or want to say "thank you" in a more personal way, you might find the following information useful in order to do so:
Christian Hennecke
is the main web site maintainer, co-founder of the concepts of warpevents.eu, adds most of the content, and controls the work-flows which are part of what's under the hood of the CMS. Especially the German visitors should know that Christian is the one who also translates almost everything to German once it was put online (which quite often is done by him, too, as mentioned before
).
Say "Danke, Christian" by checking out his
wishlist on Amazon.
Michael Oehlhof
is the developer of the TYPO3 session management extension which is unparalleled in the universe so far. Each Warpstock Europe event has ist web pages that hold speaker bio, session descriptions, and, of course, a schedule. Michaels extension does exactly that: In the backend, we specifiy the items of information and the extension assembles, validates, and creates the final pages on the fly. Do we need to say more?
Say "Danke, Michael" by checking out his
wishlist on Amazon.
Thomas Klein
is co-founder of the warpevents.eu concepts, provides most graphics and images, sometimes provides content (not that much though), paid the initial fees for the webhosting and domain name registration, and brings in ideas (which sometimes result in work for others) like the donation pages you are currently viewing.
Say "Danke, Thomas" by checking out his
wishlist on Amazon.
Guillaume Gay
is the one-man task-force in charge of translating everything to French. In case you did not know yet: Whenever there is a new or changed English content, you can bet that the first available translation (if not done by the actual author) is the French one by Guillaume. So if you happen to read the French pages, please note that you most likely wouldn't be able to so without Guillaume's work!
Say "Merci, Guillaume" by by sending him an e-mail via the
contacts page.
Donating to a specific event
What will your donation be used for?
Depending on the size, location and duration of an event, the cost involved can be, well, huge. Besides the rent for the presentation rooms, there are things to be purchased, equipment to be shipped, and internet connection and power to be paid for at least. And some of that money has to be spent upfront even before the first ticket is (pre-) sold.
Donating to event teams takes a huge burden off their shoulders, eases the planning and running of the event, and... yes, in most cases also decreases the ticket price (because not everything needs to be covered by the ticket sales revenues any more).
As the organizing team changes with each annual event, please contact our
Sponsor manager who will either point you to the right spokesperson or handle the transaction for you.
